Inspirational Umbria, Todi Italy, May 24-30 2015!!!! IT'S ON!!!!!!

I am about to hyperventilate here- the dates have been set for a week-long knitwear design workshop in Todi, Italy. And I will be teaching! In Italy! In May 2015.

The focus of the in-depth workshop will be on translating landscape and architectural features and details and impressions into charts for stranded and Fair Isle knitting. Every student will go home with an original, and completely unique, pattern of his or her own design. Not only will we use the beautiful town of Todi as inspiration, we'll be taking excursions to Assisi, and surrounding areas. Classes will be in the morning, excursions in the afternoon (including a yarn crawl- there are three yarn stores in Todi, wine tasting, a cooking class, and a Medieval archery demo), and great food in the evening. Friendship and laughter all day, every day. It's going to be fun, lemee tellya.

Prices for the retreat have not been set yet, but here's the flyer:

Feel free to copy and distribute this flyer anywhere you like. I also have a PDF file- e-mail me if you'd like it as well.

As if the above wasn't enough of an incentive- take a gander at the hotel where we'll be staying:

I was rendered speechless (a rare and wonderful thing) when I went to the Hotel Bramante website. *Amazing* doesn't begin to cover it. Be sure to watch the video.

And if you need a little more incentive, the workshop facilitator Alexandra Hook, sent me this picture of Todi itself:

As the rest of the details are settled, I'll let you all know. Come and join us for the adventure of a lifetime!

Edited to add: I just started a Ravelry group called Inspiring Umbria- come and join us!

Attention KOBO readers!

KOBO is having a 4 day 30% off sale of select titles, including The Nut Hut! The promo code is TGIFSAVE30, and instructions for using the code are on the main page.

Here's the main page link.

This is the main page, announcing the sale. The Nut Hut isn't listed on that page (they're showing Romance, Mystery, and SF), but if you click on Browse Now, and look for the title, you'll find it. And you'll find it faster if you search titles Z-A.

Here's the sale page

And here's the direct link to The Nut Hut:

I'm very proud of this book, and thrilled for it to be included in this promotion.

Wingspan #1 Finished

It weighs in at a beautiful 157 gr, which means a single ball of fingering weight sock yarn won't do it, unless you want a shorter shawl/scarf. I think it's a nice size for a shawlette. I will be knitting more Wingspans.

Barn Goodies

Over the years, my obsession with our little barn has been mentioned (and yes, I know it's actually a chicken coop, but we've called it a barn for long enough, that it is now officially The Barn). I take pictures of it in all seasons, and from all angles, and post them everywhere. Here and there, folks have asked me to make items with Barn images available for ordering. This week I finally did it.

All the Little Barn goodies you might ever want (and some it never occurred to anyone to want, ever) are now available in my Zazzle Store, Ktaylor1952 (there are evidently many Kathleen Taylors selling things on Zazzle, that was the best I could do for a store name.)

It won't just be barn images- I'm going to make some of my needlepoint designs available as note cards, and other stationery items. I've already created a Sunflower Needlepoint card, though it may not show up in the shop until tomorrow.

Here are a couple of the things already listed:

Playing Cards

Note cards

I'll be creating and listing more stuff over time, and I'll announce here and there when new things are available, but I'll try not to be obnoxious about it. A permanent link to the store is on the upper right of the main blog page.

This will be fun!
