I haven't been to a mystery convention for quite awhile- they were such fun.

____

I felt bad about not having time to size the hat pattern down for kids- but you're right. Knitting it with worsted weight yarn and size 8 or 9 needles would make it about the right size for a child. You build the glass up around the pair of prongs for the button. It's difficult for me (I'm self-taught), so I didn't make a lot of buttons (and a fair portion of them broke before annealing). But the ones that did survive turned out pretty good.

Here's a link to the mandrels, you'll have to scroll about halfway down the page for a pic.

http://www.arrowsprings.com/html/mandrels_tubes.htmlKathleen Taylorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08096607261757810034noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-661356795743869465.post-53689188077403611222007-10-12T09:29:00.000-05:002007-10-12T09:29:00.000-05:00Amy, you've reminded me that I need to post my gui...Amy, you've reminded me that I need to post my guidelines on using my patterns on the right side of the main page.

Anyway, you may make and give away or sell as many items from my patterns as you like. I wonder if you would mind if we made some hats from your pattern to sell at holiday craft fairs? The buttons wouldn't be as nice, but I still think it would be a great seller.

Thanks, AmyAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-661356795743869465.post-31824756400773791982007-10-12T09:18:00.000-05:002007-10-12T09:18:00.000-05:00What a great hat!!
