Start your Bill Murrays!

Was that some football game, or what? My oldest son has been a Steelers fan since he was about 8 years old, and he stuck with them through the (many) lean years, so it was especially fun (if you call nail-biting fun) to watch the Superbowl last night with a house full of good friends and excellent food. The commercials (except for the LMAO one, and the Heroes ads) weren't all that great, so if you need some football chuckles, check out this Cakewrecks post: http://cakewrecks.blogspot.com/2009/01/are-you-ready-for-some-football.html, or this one: http://cakewrecks.blogspot.com/2009/01/score.html . You'll never look at footballs, or frosting, or spelling, the same again.

I started a true Nordic Style sweater for The Grand's doll (from the Knit and Crochet Sweaters & Accessories for 18" Dolls booklet). It's totally adorable, and would be a pretty good practice project for new steeker, since it's constructed in the same matter as human-sized garments. I did find an error in a stitch count (increase 10 sts, rather than 8 after the ribbing) though I didn't look for errata on the website or at Ravelry, so it may have been discovered and corrected long ago. I'm at the place where the front and armhole steeks start, and the stranded motif gets more complicated, and I didn't want to try to concentrate on that and watch exciting football commercials at the same time, so I got out the wheel and finished spinning and plying the Ianto roving (Merino from Yummy Yarns). I finished one skein long ago, and this one is 1.8 ozs and 204 yards of soft and beautiful. (once I get a rhythm going, I don't have to look at my hands as I spin, perfect for TV watching).

After that, I started some BFL from Twisted Fiber Arts. This is the Braider colorway (so so so gorgeous). I'm going to 2-ply it and let the colors come out as they may. I love this colorway and fiber, which is every bit as soft and lustrous as it looks in the photo.

Tonight, Chuck and Heroes are back! In 3-D! Comin' Right Actcha! And before that, Woodchuck chuckers, our annual ceremonial viewing of Groundhog Day! It's cold out there, campers.

  1. The Steelers won a sixpack for Sixburgh, as the media is saying here in PA! That was a Good game!
Really like your little Norwegian sweater!

  2. I agree, the commercials were a little disappointing. But your yarn and sweater are great!
