Flags. Soldiers. Tractors. Candy tossed from all moving vehicles. Fire Trucks (sirens blaring). Boy Scouts. Pretty girls waving from convertibles. The town mascot. Old Cars. Lady Liberty and Uncle Sam. Horsies (including a small boy on a small horse). And ending with the Kiddie Train.
And you know what we didn't have, and didn't miss? Politicians.
It was a good parade, with a route slightly altered by road construction, but otherwise unimpeded by rain or frowns. And all over in a half hour.
Thank you for sharing your day. That is what America is all about. Lovely pictures!
ReplyDeleteBy the way I was reading past blogs and was delighted to find you liked Jason Castro in that years Am Idol. I still play his songs. He is about to come out with an album soon, I think. I hope they don't change his sound. He still has those dreadlocks!
Ah, small town life! I live in a small town, but it just happens to have 40,000 people now! Our parades last about an hour these days, but still have tractors and old cars amongst the school bands and scout troops. I wanted to ask if any one in your town notices that the clocks on the clock tower are on different times? I have a feeling the answer will be the same one I got when I asked here why the clocks didn't say the same time.
ReplyDeleteAnon- I still have a soft spot in my heart for Jason Castro. I'm looking forward to his album.
ReplyDeleteKathy Sue- that's hilarious! I never noticed that the clocks weren't synchronized. My guess is that no one else has noticed either, but please tell me what you were told in your town.
