Unwelcome Discovery The First: The broken tooth cannot be fixed, and unfortunately, it cannot be pulled by my usual dentist either, the roots being too long and firmly embedded in the bone (likely the only tooth so permanently entrenched). So, we're going to try a temporary cap to see if that holds (I absolutely am not paying for a porcelain crown on a back tooth. Period), and if it doesn't, I'll have to see an oral surgeon. I am not happy with either solution (especially given that my teeth are crumbling at an alarming rate- I can't remember the last time I had a routine checkup without finding a new cavity). I have to go back on Thursday, and I imagine the visit will involve needles.
Unwelcome Discovery The Second: I set the DVR to record American Idol while I was in SoCal (given that older son does not get network TV). Yesterday, I settled down to start recapping episodes (figuring I'd do one a day or so until I caught up), only to find no American Idol episodes recorded. I don't know what the hell I did, but it wasn't the right thing. So I'll be starting this week cold, knowing nothing more than what I saw before we left. It's going to be... interesting...
