AI- The Best of the Rest

FYI, Fox Network, I have no interest in those sad people and their tawdry little secrets, and that's not going to change no matter how many times you show the stupid commercials.

Now that other show, the one with the sad singers and their tawdry backstories- that one I find a little harder to resist. Happily, they kept the sleaze factor down tonight, though I wonder if the ooky shared girlfriend will opt out after she hears what the Creep Twins said about her. On the other hand, Simon cuddling that puppy was just about the cutest thing I've ever seen.

The good backstories were fun however- I always root for the plus-size gals, and Joanne was good (though I think she was singing too high for her range). I really liked Chickezie's voice, and Danny Noriega has real potential (and I hope he doesn't end up Sanjayaed).

Paula was right- Alicia was a much better Dolly than Celine.

Did Ryan actually say that the *auditions never fail to disappoint*?

I do think we saw a higher percentage of the Hollywood-bound this year, and there are some good singers in the group (though I'm sorry to say that there was no Clay/Taylor moment for me). I am very much looking forward to seeing the kids perform with instruments.

For me, the show doesn't really start until Hollywood- the Auditions are just a warmup we have to sit through in order to get to the good stuff, so it was appropriate to end this cycle with one last refrain of let my pipple goooooooooooo.

I was pleasantly surprised at the higher number of good auditions shown this year and the small number of really bad ones.

Like you, I didn't see "my idol" during this part of the show, perhaps in the group portion someone will stand out.

There were a number of singers that I thought were very good.
