Biltmore #1

I have been gone so much in the last three months, that none of the trips have gotten  a proper documentation. It's going to be that way with this one too, especially since we have company now, but I did take a lot of pictures at Biltmore (as always). It was a cold and dreary day- maybe 40 degrees, damp and windy, with a real threat of snow. The dire predictions kept most people away- we nearly had the place to ourselves, which was cool, except that it was hard to find anyone to take our pictures. My high school friend DeeAnn and her husband met me in Asheville, and we did the *touristy* stuff together, which was wonderful.

Anyway, here's a Really Big House... and some of the Really Big Grounds
Yep, a really big house. Note the few people standing around in front of it.
There was no one to take a pic of the 3 of us together from this vantage.
Most of the leaves were gone, but a few pretty ones still clung to the branches.
My friend DeeAnn, lovely at every age.
 Just because.
 Some color left.
 Color on the ground too.
In the courtyard, heading to the stable where the shops are.

 Gargoyle!
 More Gargoyles!
I don't think I've ever taken pics of the shops. Very cheery and tempting they are.

The only pics allowed inside the house itself are the ones the staff takes. This one turned out pretty well.

Tomorrow- more pics of the grounds
