Freebie Friday- Easy Lace Fingerless Mittens

I love fingerless mittens- even in my new house, it gets chilly in the mornings at my computer, so I wear them frequently in the winter. But they're not just for indoors, or warmish fall days. You can pair handknit fingerless mittens with those little cheapo gloves for a great layered look. The gloves come in any color (and they'll be on the shelves soon), so you should be able to match any yarn you use. Sorry about the goofy angle in the scan- it's surprisingly difficult to take a picture one-handed.

It's an open invitation to send me jpgs of anything you knit from a Freebie Friday pattern- I'll post them here.

BTW-I don't just knit with worsted weight yarn, but that seems to be a trend on Freebie Friday patterns. I'll try to dig out a fingering weight pattern for next week.

Love the Yellow gloves...so elegante. Where did you purchase the Magic Gloves in order to get such a wonderful color? I tried ACMoore today and they anre on to Spring things!

I think I bought them last year at Menards (a building supply place). I waited until late January and got them for 25 cents a pair. I bought up a couple dozen pairs, in all colors, and it's a good thing because this year the color selection was pretty much red, blue, black, purple, and blah brown. I hope they have some better colors next year.

Making my first pair of these and am a little confused on the gusset increases. Gusset round 3 ends by saying in parentheses, add 2 stitch increases, 2 stitches before the marker. Isn't this really the beginning of the following round?

The notation in the parentheses at the end of the written instructions for Rnd 3 is just a tabulation of the increases, and an account of the number of stitches in front of the marker. You work the gusset increases at the beginning of Rnd 3 (before the first stitch, and just before the marker), and all odd rnds thereafter, until noted in the pattern.

Sorry for the confusion.

Thanks for this pattern. Just the thing for this morning when I've woken up to chilly fog and need a blast of colour.
