Goodbye, Madeleine L'Engle

I can't begin to say what A Wrinkle In Time meant to me, as a bookish, sheltered 11 year old. It changed my life, and I loved that book unreservedly (staying my favorite book until I read Pride and Prejudice in my 20's, by which time I had already met and married my own Calvin). I recently started reading Wrinkle to my 6 year old granddaughter- we don't see each other as often as we'd like, so it's going to take awhile to get through the story, but we're enjoying it enormously (and I am seeing it again, as a child, something I haven't done for 40+ years).

Though the later books in the series don't hold up to the original, Wrinkle is a wonderful and powerful book. And I am so sorry that Madeleine L'Engle is writing no more.

I am just re-reading this book right now! What a gifted writer! She seemed to know things before the quantum physics people even dreamed they existed!

She was way ahead of her time. That book is incredibly special to me (and millions of other readers), and I am having a marvelous time introducing this book to my granddaughter.
